"The Business History of Everything"

Travel Information

Athens, Georgia, is located about 60 miles northeast of Atlanta. For directions, see www.georgiacenter.uga.edu/directions. A parking deck is located adjacent to the Center ($10 per night; vehicle height limit, 7 feet; see below). For more maps, see our Maps page.

Athens is served by two airports. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is located about 90 minutes southwest of Athens. Scheduled ground shuttle service and rental car services are available between Hartsfield-Jackson and the Georgia Center. AAA Airport Express (aaaairportexpress.com/routes/athens.html) has agreed to a rate of $40 each way. You must mention the "BHC conference" when you call or email to to book reservations. An air shuttle service operated by Georgia Skies (https://www.pacificwings.com/gsky/gs/index.asp) provides connecting flights between the Atlanta and Athens airports at a cost of $39 plus tax each way. Athens-Ben Epps Airport is located five miles from the Georgia Center. Free shuttle service can be arranged by calling the Georgia Center; however, flights to this local airport can be unreliable. Conference participants who wish to charter a town car carrying up to four people can do so at the rate of $210 (including driver gratuity) each way from Atlanta Airport Executive Limo (www.atlantaairportexecutivelimo.com). You would be responsible for finding, coordinating schedules, and sharing payment with co-riders if you choose this option; neither the Georgia Center for Continuing Education nor the BHC Local Arrangements Committee has the resources to make such arrangements.

Guest Parking

During your visit, parking will be available in the South Campus Parking Deck, located just north of the Georgia Center. Current rates are $.50 for the first 30 minutes, $2 for the first hour, $2 for each additional hour, and a maximum of $10 for each 24-hour period parked. Vans and other vehicles over seven feet tall cannot fit in the parking deck but arrangements can be made after arrival to secure outside parking. Motorcycles are not permitted within the parking deck but may be parked near the main entrance to the Georgia Center.

If you have lodging at the Georgia Center you will want to unload your car at the front circle of the Center (Carlton Street), then park in the parking deck. Assistance with your belongings will be provided if needed. Your automobile may remain at this location while you register at the hotel desk but should be moved promptly to the parking deck after check in. A daily flat-rate parking charge can be added to your room bill, if you wish, and you will be given a parking pay voucher to give to the parking attendant. This pay voucher will allow you in and out access for the duration of your visit.

The South Campus Parking Deck is operated by the University of Georgia and is not governed by the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education Conference Center and Hotel. The parking deck is open 24 hours.
