2008 Annual MeetingSacramento, California April 10-12, 2008 Expanding Connections for Business History California State Railroad Museum, Sacramento Information for PublishersThis year's annual meeting of the Business History Conference will take place in Sacramento, California, hosted by California State University at Sacramento and the California State Railroad Museum. We invite publishers to participate in our Book and Journal Exhibit. As always, we expect a large and varied attendance. The BHC publishers' exhibit is a combined table-top display, housed in an area near the meeting rooms to encourage browsing. We would be happy to receive one display copy of each book or journal you wish to exhibit, along with order forms, subscription information, catalogues, brochures, and other handouts. We expect to have enough publishers participating to be able to devote several tables entirely to journals. We expect approximately 250 people to be in attendance, primarily economists and historians. Members of the BHC have interests ranging broadly across the fields of business and economic history. It is an international organization: scholars from the UK, many European countries, Canada, Japan, and Latin America will attend, as well as academics from several other parts of the world. The theme of the meeting is "Expanding Connections in Business History." The program is available to assist you in selecting titles appropriate for our membership. There is no fee for exhibiting books or journals at the BHC meeting, but we require exhibitors to donate the books and journals they send to the conference for our silent auction. For publishers who wish to exhibit only flyers and/or catalogs, and hence will not be contributing materials to the auction, there is a $50 fee. Publishers who wish to make a separate contribution of $250 or more will receive recognition in the printed program and on the annual meeting's website. Sponsors at this or higher levels would also be welcome to have materials placed into attendees' registration packets for no extra charge. If you have questions about other sponsorship possibilities, please contact BHC President Pamela Laird for additional information. Please note that we cannot return books, journals, or any advertising materials to publishers. Therefore, do not send banners, book stands, or other valuable materials; we can accommodate small table-top cardboard stands, such as enlarged jacket images. Publishers may send discount flyers or order forms, but we do not permit selling at the conference. To assist us in planning, we ask publishers to register, using the form provided. Please print and then mail or fax the form to the address or number indicated on the form no later than March 31, 2008. If you have questions about the exhibit, please contact Pat Denault via email. If you would like to be a sponsor or if you are sending flyers only, please complete the registration form accordingly. Payment (in advance of the meeting) should be made to the "Business History Conference" and mailed, together with a copy of the completed form, to: Dr. Roger Horowitz Because the conference venue has limited storage space, books and other materials for the exhibit should be timed to arrive between April 4 and 9, 2008. The shipping address is:
Business History Conference 2008N.B.: If you are sending materials to be included in attendees' packets, please add the words "For Packets" to the shipping address, and send these items separately from any materials for the table-top exhibit. We look forward to having your books and journals as part of our exhibit this year! |
