2010 Annual Meeting
University of Georgia
Athens, Georgia
March 25-27, 2010
"The Business History of Everything"
Around and About Athens
The conference is being held at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education, which is located at the south edge of the UGA campus, between the Five Points neighborhood and downtown proper. Restaurants, bars, and musical venues abound in both areas. Recommendations are listed below. Shane Hamilton has prepared an excellent Google map with many of these locations indicated.
The local alternative weekly, Flagpole Magazine, provides up-to-date listings on cultural events in town, including reliable recommendations for live music shows worth seeing. Athens is renowned for its live music scene, particularly for alternative rock. Hundreds of talented local acts are joined regularly by regional, national, and international touring bands at popular venues including the 40 Watt Club and The Melting Point (among many others).
For general information on Athens visitor sites, history, and cultural events, consult the UGA Libraries Guide to Athens. For a guide to shops and other businesses in the downtown area, visit Downtown Athens.
